Eric Marks, Founder and Chairman
Eric Marks is the Founder and Chairman of Lean Governance Solutions. Prior to LGS, he was Vice President of Cloud Consulting for Cloud Spectator, LLC, where he developed Cloud Spectator’s Cloud computing consulting practice and also lead product development for its Cloud Management Platform and Cloud price-performance analytics data subscription service.
Previously, he was President and CEO of AgilePath Corporation, a leading vendor-independent IT consulting firm Mr. Marks founded in 2003 that focused on Technology Innovation (Cloud computing, Big Data, SOA/API, Integration), Lean Governance, Agile Transformation and Enterprise Architecture. Mr. Marks is an internationally recognized entrepreneur and technology expert based on his pioneering work in Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)/APIs, Cloud computing, and Lean Governance. Mr. Marks is an Information Technology veteran with 25 years of experience with firms including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Cambridge Technology Partners, AgilePath Corporation, Cloud Spectator, Electronic Data Systems, StreamServe, Ontos, and Square D/Schneider Electric.
Mr. Marks is the author of six business & technology strategy books including “Executive’s Guide to Cloud Computing (April 2010), “SOA Governance for the Services-Driven Enterprise” (2008), “Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA): Planning and Implementation Guide for Business and Technology,” (2006), “Executive’s Guide to Web Services” (2003). Mr. Marks also wrote “Business Darwinism – Evolve or Dissolve,” (Wiley, 2002), and he also edited and contributed to “Manufacturing Leadership through the Extended Enterprise” (2000). He is working on his newest book, The Lean Governance Manifesto, based on the very popular Lean Governance Manifesto eBook. Mr. Marks continues to write cutting edge whitepapers and articles on challenging topics such as Lean Governance, Bimodal IT Governance, Cloud computing, Big Data, and Enterprise Agile Adoption.
Mr. Marks is widely quoted in industry articles and periodicals, and is a frequent speaker at industry events based on his thought leadership on cutting edge technologies. Mr. Marks has keynoted several industry events. Mr. Marks has deep experience helping large Commercial and Federal Government enterprises leverage emerging technologies for competitive advantage.
Mr. Marks graduated from Syracuse University (BA) in 1983 and the University of Wisconsin (MS) in 1986, and serves on the Advisory Board for Syracuse University’s top-ranked School of Information Studies, as well as being an Adjunct Professor of Cloud computing and Advanced IT Architecture.
Mr. Marks has served on the National Board of Advisors for the Kauffman Campuses Initiative (Enitiative), on the Advisory Board for Northeastern University’s School of Information Services, and was also a Visiting Scientist at Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Mr. Marks was also formerly the Chair of MESA International, an industry consortium focused on Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) technologies.
